The most absurd statement for the currently ongoing presidential election in Turkey that I have seen (so far) is when Sweden's Public Service radio found a person in İstanbul that said they would vote for dictator Erdoğan because "he has been running the country for 20 years and maybe nobody else would be capable of running it". :-O
But... but... but, you cite the one overwhelming evidence of why NOT, as evidence FOR.
As if a voter of the U.S. presidential election on November 1, 2020, would have STILL claimed to vote ̶c̶l̶o̶w̶n̶ Trump because "only Trump can unite the country", as some ̶d̶u̶n̶c̶e̶s̶ Trumpists claimed was their reason ahead of the 2016 election.
Erdoğan personally wrecked the economy most spectacularly astounding, especially after decreeing to "take personal control" of the central bank,
started two illegal wars of aggression while also squandering many lives in other imperialist war ventures,
mass-lethally stoked xenophobia against Arab refugees from Syria,
oversaw an extreme increase in femicide,
etc, etc, achieving almost record levels of rulership failure, yet... someone cited THAT as rationale for supporting its continuation.
