It’s weird actually, talking recently of #FreeBSD to someone else.
It was very much like being in the Bitcoin space, very focused community of competent people who just wanted a well curated UNIX system. No drama, no noise
Then around 8 years ago, we had core team members who started injecting identity-based and “progressive” politics, poisoning the well with the new “code of conduct”
https://www.freebsd.org/internal/code-of-conduct/This distracted from the core values people had, and caused the community cohesion to fall apart. And I stopped using FreeBSD exclusively after multiple years
It shouldn’t happen to #Bitcoin, as it’s a much larger ethos. But there will be ideologically possessed interlopers the more people we orange pill
