The more I use my commercial handheld radios, the more I kind of dislike my amateur handhelds. Of course the commercial radios don't have the amateur friendly features, but they just work really well with very little (if any) flakiness. And they are rugged. And yes, you pay for it.
I'll never abandon my amateur handhelds, but sometimes I wish they were just better.
