yeah it sucks that IO is a complex issue, gotta jump thru hoops to not be raped by heavy IO on linux, but it's essentially reachable. I have heard that macOS is better in that regard but I am yet to have a macbook, and I did use Windows and on a HDD it was hell, and I bet if I ran it enough on a NVME SSD It'd become hell soon enough.
