Multiple certificates is very useful to use pass as team password manager to store recovery login details and passwords to systems that do not support individual accounts. Just have a shared git repo and put everyone's public keys in.
For individual use, I a bit miss possibility to have several keys by branch/name, e.g. passwords that can be recovered with email could be secured with multiple keys while e.g. for backup encryption keys the private key is available only in select devices.
