"Adding AI" to a product is usually just a few REST API calls to some OpenAI endpoint. Doing so lets you put out a press release that says you've "added AI" and, boom, now your valuation skyrockets because Wall Street and vulture capitalists care about tech fads.
That's why "AI" is in everything now. It's a low-effort low-risk way to juice your product to moneypeople who are too shortsighted to ask if the thing you want matters or even works.
