ROUND 2, MATCH 4 TIEBREAKER:

Alice: 56 votes
Shanoa: 60 votes

The tiebreaker match kicked off with Pyra VS Tamamo already well underway, and shaping up to be an absolute classic in its own right, but was still such a big deal that it had no problem attracting tons of voters during its brief 1-hour run. And while the first match had remained almost impossibly close all the way through, the tiebreaker match was a completely different beast.

At first, it seemed like the Snake Girl Supporters had by far the most gas left in the tank, Alice starting off with a whopping 70-30 lead, and even after the match had somewhat stabilized, she still lead 58% to 42% after the first 10 minutes and 24 votes. However, it turned out that Alice had peaked too early - Shanoa steadily and not-so-slowly grinded down her lead, building up such unstoppable momentum that the Castlevania girl was not only able to overtake Alice, but just kept extending her own lead, Alice for once seemingly unable to answer back. Shanoa was building easily the biggest lead she ever had in either of these two matches, being up 55% - 45% after 66 votes, and 56% to 44%, after 95 votes! After that, Alice FINALLY got a comeback attempt going, but it was just too little, too late, with Shanoa eventually winning by 4 votes. An absolutely insane battle was finally over.

Her blatant overseeding aside, Alice had fought heroically in both matches, and outperforming Tifa is nothing to sneeze at. However, when it turned out that the first match would become a true nail biter, I could never shake the feeling that Shanoa would eventually come out on top, given her round 1 performance, and both round 2 matches cemented Shanoa as the Queen of Clutch, and a true Tournament Legend. That said, these matches also earned Shanoa quite a few haters, since a lot of snek stans would NOT forgive the Castlevania heroine for what she had done to Alice. Cheating accusations also started getting thrown around, albeit with zero evidence behind them, which was perhaps to be expected, given just how shocking of a result Shanoa reaching the quarterfinals was. Not that any of that negativity really takes away from Shanoa’s spectacular achievement, though it did all-but-guarantee that she was due for an ass-whipping at the hands of Reimu.
