I would even say, that mastodon is cesored - if the server admin does not like your posts, he can remove you from his server. You loose your id and all that comes with it. He does not de-platform you, as you can set up new user on different server, but we know, thats not the same :)
P.S. while thinking about it, matrix.org has the same "federation" problems.
