Every time I want to add a new feature or make a non-trivial change I find myself spending hours figuring out what’s the right way to do so. Part of it is that any code you don’t touch for months at a time is a lot like legacy code, but the other part is how fast things change or subtly break in tools. Hours of debugging because some gulp no longer works with grunt or everything depends on eslint now or whatever.
