I wish I was less lazy (or maybe busy?) so I could balance a checkbook; I never really learned how because this software came out called Quicken about 20 or 30 years ago; and I started using it instead back when I could still connect to all of my banks (and well I didn't have mortgage then).
But reconciliation was the thing; I have a little python code to convert qfx files downloaded from the bank to csv, but I guess the bank kinda does that now.
I also have a mild interest in command line accounting software; and even milder interest in my bank accounts. (take that however you want it's all somewhat true).
I guess anything that stops me from learning as being a time sink that is not learning bothers me.
Also my stupid lender doesn't export anything but statements and I would have to scrape them to get the information out. I'm more of a hacker (but not the kind the breaks into bank accounts, the kind that creates things to save time).
