I really wish Mastodon had an admin UI feature where you could select if new accounts received direct messages from people they don’t follow or not.
Eg at the minute you can opt users out of search engines by default, and they can opt back in.
Reason = it would vastly deter DM spamming and the moderation impact. All the features in Mastodon backend and front end are already there to do it, eg I have DMs from people I don’t follow set to ignore already.
