Hi Colin, I prefer open coms.
Your relays jumping around is probably because you are jumping clients. I haven't seen this issue with relays only followers previously.
I would recommend using your nsec in only one client. Damus and Fountain have my nsec that's it. Everyone else I use my npub. Its read only but you can see how different clients work with you without exposing your nsec.
