I really didn't want to tell Summer that her pal is stuck in the hospital for another day. She was so positive that he would be in the next car that drives by our house that she sat and watched the gate for hours today.
She was all jaunty and cheerful when I called her to me, because she though good news was happening.
When I told her that her pal has sepsis and needs a special antibiotic that only the hospital can give him so he has to stay at the hospital.
First she looked at me with a "how can you be so cruel look", right before she closed her eyes and put her nose up. She said she just needed a minute. I told her that I understand. I need a minute too.
I promised her that tomorrow I will take her to his window so she can see that he is all right, and no we can't break him out through the window.
He will be home when he is better enough, or we will reconsider the window option.
