If Ukraine were losing, then they wouldn't be able to pull of such operation deep on the Russian soil with FSB having absolutely no idea what was cooking for the past 1.5 years. Their actions confirmed that Putin's plan to occupy UA was a mistake. Now it's up to Russians to decide what future do they want. If they don't retreat from the UA, then it will be the rafineries and the gas pipelines. It's their call.
