We used to have decentralized chat with #irc. There great solutions like #rocketchat etc...
And yet, an entire generation of people is being (getting themselves) locked in to a proprietary centralized service like #discord (which btw, isn't accessible for most people in the world). The idea of "your own server" in discord is nothing more than pure marketing bait. The "free" internet is slowly breaking down. People are being boiled like frogs...
