Another guess is that some of the longevity-favoring battery design is done by putting a much larger battery in the car and keeping the charge between 20 to 80% while reporting 0-100% to the user.
While the user never gets to use the full capacity, this stops the battery degrading in a few years like a smartphone does.
Coupled with the fact that weight and thickness is not an issue for an EV. They cant over-engineer the battery of portable electronics the same way.
