Fish of Rage (nprofile…h6f2) sarah connor 🌲🪐 (nprofile…5f97) here is where I very much doubt it. Not because AI code generation has no use, but because organisations are becoming inefficient a lot faster than any single programmers efficiency climbs. Making a working software today is somehow more time consuming than it was 20 years ago, and this has a lot to do with all the middle management involved.
I barely write any code for my employer, because most of my time is spent on figuring out what exactly stupid text in the Jira ticket is supposed to do and then explain to people that what they want isn't what we can deliver tomorrow. Or what they want will lead to huge problems in the quite foreseeable future.
Most organisations today don't need 1000x developers with AI-powered emacs, the ones they have are already more than good enough.
