Is it normal for universities to email their students' parents?
When I was in college, I don't remember my school ever contacting my parents directly. Most students were paying their own tuition from student loans, the parents weren't even really involved except maybe to drop freshmen off in September.
I remember in one of my classes some guy's mom contacted the professor complaining that he was too critical of her son's paper and we were all like "wow that's inappopriate."
