Because of course the conventional western has the \"decent\" women in a frontier town judging their fallen sisters. (Think of John Ford's Stagecoach, where Claire Trevor is being run out of town at the beginning.) And here that doesn't happen. So did the show get criticized for romanticizing prostitution? Or did folks argue that the writers were just playing with genre?",
