I really dislike how everything that has to do with sound degradation experimentation is labeled as "lo-fi", mostly because anything under that tag gets imagined by the wider audience as a very boring beat "to study to".
Lots of electronic music from 90s-early 2000s was "lo-fi" simply because of computer limits, and that didn't stop people from making rich layers of sounds stacked on top of the other which still hold very well today. idk man
