Judge Boasberg, the chief #federal district judge in #DC, has abruptly blocked an anticipated effort by President #Trump to use an invocation of the #Alien Enemies Act to remove citizens of #Venezuela. A #federal judge preemptively blocked the deportation of five Venezuelan nationals that President Trump is expected to attempt to deport under the rarely used war powers of the Alien #Enemies Act of 1798. The Trump administration is already appealing, without even waiting for the #emergency hearing to be held at 4pm.
