Besides manual assembly, there are currently three external assembly workbenches in #FreeCAD which follow different approaches (A2Plus, Asm3 and Asm4). Each with it's own pros and cons. I'm using Asm3. For more information, please have a look at the wiki https://wiki.freecad.org/Assembly
