At the rear, the 1500 received a new extended tail that made to it look less stubby than the Toledo or the earlier 1300. This photo, taken at The Great British Car Journey in 2023, shows the difference (the red car is the Toledo, the grey car is the 1500). Just to make things even more complicated, in 1973 Triumph decided to switch the 1500 from FWD to RWD as well, rebadging it as the 1500 TC (twin carb), which prepared the way for the next chapter in the story of the small Triumphs.
