There's an open PR for #neovim to add support for the new private mode 2048 - in-band window resize notifications.
If done properly, this _should_ get rid of all size mismatches between neovim and the terminal window, when, for example, starting neovim together with the terminal (i.e. terminal-app -e nvim) on, say, a tiling VM.
Lets hope more applications adopt this!
And yes, #foot has support for mode 2048 (master branch, not yet released).
