Ever wondered why a standard sheet of A4 paper has such weird non-metric-looking dimensions: 210 x 297 mm?
Well I did many years ago. This led me down a very interesting rabbit hole.
Follow me.
So the A-series is designed so that if, for example, you fold an A4 in half (long-ways) you get A5. Do it again you get A6. Going the other way, two A4 sheets (long sides together) make an A3, two A3 make an A2 and so on.
