UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calls for urgent political negotiations in Venezuela
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called in Geneva for Venezuela's government and opposition to engage in political negotiations to move the country toward a path that is viable in the future. “Political negotiations between the various stakeholders are urgently needed to agree on a viable way forward,” Türk said at the presentation of his agency's report on the situation of fundamental rights and freedoms in the world, delivered to the UN Human Rights Council.
