I find this article interesting. There's been a couple more similar recently, basically saying how left discourse isn't always appealing to working people.

It's like the left suddenly realising that PR is a thing and you have to make your ideas enticing. And with their lies, the right are more appealing to many people.

The article talks about platforming people/allowing debate, but I think the elephant in the room is social media where discourse often transgresses into plain insults or seemingly so.

And if people argue back, it's a case of: Boo hoo, who cares about your feelings?

I mean, yes, people are oppressed, angry, frustrated. But often from the left it's a case of: Don't be racist/sexist/ableist! But also: I'm just going to make some generalised insulting statements about people.

And I don't really get that. Because one part of privilege is not being immediately affected (or being unknowingly affected) by political decisions. Privilege means people don't have to care.

So if people think they are being insulted, what's to stop them exercising that privilege and muting or blocking or just plain ignoring what people have to say?

The real enemy is corporate media, so I agree the left need to present an inclusive narrative that appeals to working people.
