Yes, politicians are self-serving and the state has all it does through theft...
But let's not understate how improbable it is that America came to exist under a set of ideals that promote gridlock and (ideally) prevent concentration of power... This 'slowness' is nearly the only feature that separates the USA from any other dictatorship.
This isn't a right vs. left idea - it's simply pointing out that the foundation of what actually makes America great is coming under fire. Frankly it would be nice if America could get back to the right versus left arguments versus questioning "do we even need to follow the law?" Or worse, just ignoring it. A king will not increase freedom. Gridlock is a feature, not a bug. USA needs less government, not a king.
The foundation of all USA freedoms comes from the fact that the rule of law is hard to change and that most all people (especially those enacting the government) decide the rules are valid. But that doesn't mean the USA can't change it's laws to dismantle the foundations of what is has - I urge that not to happen, but there's nothing stopping the people from voting away the foundations of what the USA is built on, or following a leader who ignores them completely - even if (and perhaps especially if) well intentioned.
I'm not a statist cuck, but the USA has it really good, more or less owns the world, and that should not be taken for granted. USA doesn't need a king. The king won't give the people any additional freedoms.
