But that aside, there is also something really important underlying your intuitions here.

North American privacy scholars have for over a century been promoting the idea that privacy is ultimately a property right.

I think this is a HUGE mistake, partly because it presupposes a very culturally specific notion of property that we can blame Locke for, but mainly because it leads to obvious bad consequences in the internet age, like scraping social media to train AI. (2/2)
