Never mind bookishness and the aptitude for reading the Dungeon Master's Guide. A lot of young people simply don't have anywhere they could play D&D even if they wanted to. When I was 13 and started to find TV with my parents annoying, I didn't have to leave the house. I just closed the door to my spacious room. I had my own couch!
The kids who live in big houses and have rooms of their own and *still* do sports, though, they're fucking incomprehensible. 😁 2/2
