I think many under appreciate the fear putting so much responsibility onto oneself, especially when the status quo (though flawed as it is) has been "free" to some, abused by the speculators and the inflators, and taken through legal plunder. It is like a Stockholm syndrome kind of thing.
Cold storage, hot wallet, seed phrase, lightning, and node are all common words in bitcoin world but they are foreign to millions and millions of people. These words are super important but I don't think they are the opening conversation to those uninformed, skeptical, or don't trust bitcoin.
A good tutorial that explains one wallet has a run time of an hour. This fine for those interested and convinced of the value of bitcoin but it looks like big barrier to the many who still use "password123" to protect their email.
