Those better educated than I and more eloquent will suggest to you ways to avoid this coming to Canada.

My thoughts are simple and obvious, but offered nonetheless.

Defend our institutions. Elections Canada. Canada Post. Regulatory bodies. Even, for all its flaws, the CBC. Conservative extremists want it defunded because it won't do what Rebel News and Ezra Levant do for them now - say whatever they're told to say. The fact they hate it should be enough to tell you it's still important.

Reform our elections to eliminate continued minority rule.

Tax the rich.

Most of all though, be kind to your fellow Canadians when you can. Get to know them. Realize that you're being gamed, and have far more in common with the citizen you think you disagree with the most than a politician with whom you think you share your hearts and dreams

Finally, read. Education is a defense against people who wish to rule through fear and ignorance.

Now be about it.
