Thinking about how the term "spinster" originally meant a woman who was so financially successful professionally that she didn't have to get married and have children. Turning that term into an insult, reminds me a lot of the whole "cat lady" nonsense.
There is nothing that upsets some folks as much as a financially, and in all ways, independent women. Or, just women.
Ugh.
