I used to believe that International students from PRC are more open minded. But now I know that I’m wrong. For those who get benefits from the system, they would not or will not make a tiny change to it.
I’ve talked to several friends, we finally agreed on that in a society without legal system, nor high standards of morality, it’s easy to amass wealth.
My friend Bao told me, I cared too much about everything, the homeless, the stray cats and dogs, except get enough money to earn a high standard life for myself. As an egocentric, now I totally agreed with her.
And I don’t think anything above is wrong.
What I believe I did wrong is that, I paid too much attention to the hypocrites. They said they believe in God, but they never mind whether the history they were taught was full of bullshit, they don’t care if the government is bullying the people, they don’t care if all the media are corrupt and no other voice can be heard.
What they do not see, does not exist. As long as they are fine, the world is perfect.
When I first got to the States, I had a fight with a girl who I know since I was 7. She went to HK, a democratic society 4 years earlier than me. We fought about CCP so hard that we never talk to each other again. And at that time, I was a “little pink”(fan of CCP) who delivered a blank paper to my professor since the essay topic was about Dalai Lama.
Now finally I understand why she thought I was unreasonable at that moment.
From now on, I do believe in “carpe dime”, it’s non of my business anymore if others still believe in CCP.
