Indeed. I'm in it because it engages my curiosity. I gravitate towards biochemistry & biophysics because they are more intuitive to me than cell biology.
My disrespect of complying cost me 2 great jobs in the past 4 years. I hope to spin up my own lab some day researching things adjacent to permaculture, regenerative farming, soil microbiome, etc. It would be open source and not for profit although it would be great to cover my cash flows so I can stay neutral there.
