BTC and specially LN suffer the same problems. If alby + wallet of satoshi wanted to unilaterally change the LN protocol they could because they custody and process over 90% of LN.
Just like emails form my personal mail server go to spam when sending to a gmail account, so can alby and WoS block payments to selfcustodial independent nodes.
