It is easy to be nihilistic and think that cultures can't change and people can't move towards more positive ways of relating. But a psych prompt I liked to offer when I used to teach: have you ever had a moment with a group of people where it feels like suddenly something "broke" but in a good way? Somebody admitted they didn't know something obvious and someone else said WAIT ME TOO and everyone laughed in a good way. The joy? The lightness? That's the beginning of a norm shift right there
