I understand. But technically, I disagree.
I'll use the firefighter metaphor as I see it:
My neighbor's house is on fire, and I have a strong water source at home (I'm a volunteer firefighter, for example), so I help him put the house out for 3 days (3 years). After 3 days it is still burning and for some reason I don't want to give my neighbor water anymore (unless he pays me in mineral resources so then maybe a little, but he dont wont to), so I stop all my help.
So the technical principle - I stop the help I used to give.
Where I personally would be able to see this as a betrayal is only the factor that if it turns out that the US had baited Zelensky a bit into not making peace right at the beginning of the conflict (e.g. the Istanbul Convention), but to continue the conflict with them supplying him with support, and then Trump has now ended that support, then this could be seen as a betrayal perhaps (except that the baiting was done under a different administration). . but of course Trump has again in the deeper past delivered javelinas, which in a way is also heckling.
