Yeah I was about to do something like this and not worry about encrypting EVERYTHING but I might give it one more go tonight with openrc and make sure I didn't just fuck up following the guide I was using. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed down the issue to something being wrong with dracut / initramfs. I just need to put the luksuuid into the "right spot", but I can't seem to figure out where it fuckin goes lol.
In general besides that issue, I swear almost every 2nd step of the handbook had me looking up something else somewhere else. The entire install process was PAIN. Normally I just breeze through it not even thinking, it's just following some steps. But not last night lol. It all started when I realized I downloaded the ARM64 tarball instead of AMD64 at first. Everything went downhill from there.
