On a totally different subject, does anyone know what happens when a mastodon server is only up periodically? I.e what breaks when it's down? I'm wondering about the feasibility of self-hosting on a local pi or similar but that would inevitably not be up all the time.
Would people only be able to follow etc when it's up or would other stuff break too? Eg someone may not be able to DM me if my box isn't up? #mastodon
