They arrested the presidential candidate, and then they arrested the lawyer defending him. This country feels like a joke, but it’s far from funny. It’s becoming harder to continue with life as if everything is normal.
I’ve been working on an internet series for a long time. About seven months ago, I pitched it to the wealthiest family in the country—the ones who invest the most in art. They were interested, arranged meetings with their sponsorship company, and later introduced me to a streaming platform. The discussions went well.
But even with all of this, I didn’t feel like my biggest dream was finally coming true. This is a massive project, and if it succeeds, as a feminist woman with opposing views, I could be labeled a terrorist, imprisoned, or the government could shut it down. I couldn’t stop thinking about these possibilities.
I ended up postponing everything. The platform wanted a 50-page detailed project file, but I ghosted them after only sending half of it. The potential cost of making my dreams come true felt too high, and I was paralyzed.
This country is killing its children’s dreams, and I feel like I’m dying too.
