Yes, the technical interoperability happens on a server level, but the actual federation that people experience actually happens in the client, and this case a good example as to why that is

Ryan (npub137s…szuu) added a feature to Bridgy that if a bridged Fedi post is >300 chars long and is truncated, it adds the original body as a field in the record. In Skythread I now show that full text inline.
