I know next to nothing about springs. So I tried to calculate how much spring I need. In the end I just gave up and ordered various springs from McMaster-Carr, to test which one has the most correct rate.
I was surprised to see them offer stainless springs. Does that really work... shouldn't stainless take a set? I ordered music wire springs, which I know will support the duty cycle that I need.
