Albert Ramdin to be appointed as OAS Secretary General with strong support from the Caribbean and Latin America
Albert Ramdin will be proclaimed today as Secretary General of the OAS, after winning the backing of the Caribbean and Latin America, and the political consent of the Trump administration. It is the first time that the Organization of American States has had a secretary who belongs to the Caribbean Community, and his arrival to the leadership of the regional forum is a direct consequence of a diplomatic move executed by Lula da Silva with the support of Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia and Colombia.
