Also add in the fragility of the modern age to natural disruptions. I think you mentioned the tsunami off Taiwan that disrupted memory chip supplies.
Add in large earthquakes, volcanoes, Carrington type events. Real super-events that we don't have modern records of but know happened in the past. All the wonderful technology will fail, millions or billions will starve and we're back to picking out an existence from foraging and hunting for a long long time.
