I was slow to adopt a "Bitcoin, not Blockchain" perspective. Now I understand why so many arrive here. And here's my recent learning:
Words in crypto became tainted. Like crypto, blockchain, web3. Right.
I thought branding the learning we do as "Blockchain" was a bit more ambiguous and neutral to newbies than "Bitcoin". We made that call hoping to cast a wider net. Draw more people in. Less resistance from people in power letting us speak etc.
Alt Blockchains, while centralized and sometimes interesting, aren't money and are little in resemblance to Bitcoin.
I know this deeply.
BUT, and here's the important part, newbies don't. They can be easily confused and conflate the two.
Or worse, convinced that XYZ coin is actually "better" than Bitcoin to "invest" in.
And the people perpetuating the status quo and benefitting off the central fiat system will onboard people to CBDC's this way.
It's war. Thought war. Bitcoin winning and surviving isn't a given IMO.
Bitcoin is the hardest money ever. Satoshi's ideas are genius. And they work. More people need to hear about it and less about some silly "coin".
Going to rework my perspective and approach to teaching Bitcoin.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Haha.
