I've seen the sentiment that "trans women have a duty to use their hypervisible position to advocate for less visible trans people", and I want to kind of set aside the moral claim there, just for a minute, because it really implies that some folks don't actually understand what that hypervisibility is.

The hypervisibility of trans women isn't this thing where trans women get all these opportunities to speak out or whatever, it's specifically that trans women are used in propaganda as the face of social illness. There aren't all these trans women getting big breaks on the news or whatever that they're selfishly using to advocate only for trans women: hypervisibility comes with being silenced, not having a bigger voice. It's a strategy for taking away the ability of trans women to advocate for anyone or anything through the purposeful cultivation of a propagandistic image. If you're suggesting that trans women are squandering opportunities to advocate for people I would suggest you've probably fallen for the propaganda.
