Abu Dhabi (the Union) announced the opening of the fourth round of the 'Treasure of the Generation' award, with a deadline for submissions until May 31 next. The 'Treasure of the Generation' award, since its launch in 2021, has become one of the most important cultural events in the region, contributing to the preservation and revitalization of Arab cultural heritage, and celebrating its diversity.In this regard, Dr. Ali bin Temim, President of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, said: 'The award takes its place from the unique cultural and literary legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, where it contributes to enriching the cultural identity of future generations.'He added: 'The 'Treasure of the Generation' award has been a landmark in the cultural movement in the region, attracting the works of prominent writers and creators, and contributing effectively to achieving the center's goals in promoting the presence of Arabic language, supporting its sources of creativity, writing, and translation in various parts of the world.'He emphasized that the fourth round of the 'Treasure of the Generation' award has continued the great success achieved by previous rounds, becoming a platform for celebrating innovative works, and restoring the importance of popular poetry, arts, and studies related to it in the journey of reviving Arab civilization.He added: 'With the launch of a new phase in its journey, the award has solidified its position as a rich cultural platform that brings together poetry and heritage, reflecting our cultural heritage, and reminding us of the distinguished position of poetry in the culture and knowledge of society.'The 'Treasure of the Generation' award derives its mission from the poems of the founding father Sheikh Zayed, which embody the importance of poetry as a mirror of Arab society and the UAE, as well as celebrating the experiences of outstanding poets in Nabati poetry, which is an essential part of Arab identity, in addition to promoting these works and introducing them.The award also aims to promote the values of poetry carried by Sheikh Zayed, including its aesthetics and noble human values, and shed light on its impact on Emirati and Arab culture. It also aims to protect folk heritage and traditional arts by linking new generations to their culture and heritage, as well as the arts related to Nabati poetry, such as music, folk singing, and visual arts.The 'Treasure of the Generation' award sets general conditions that applicants and participating works must meet, including the need for the applicant to have made a significant contribution to the poetic, critical, or artistic movement on the local and Arab levels, and for the works to be characterized by originality and innovation, representing a genuine addition to human culture and knowledge.Applicants are allowed to submit only one work in one of the award's branches during the same round, and the same work cannot be submitted to another award in the same year.The 'Competition Branch' award this round is for a poem that matches the poem 'Lay Saret Mee' by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in terms of meter, rhyme, and subject matter, with the same number of verses as the original poem, at a level that matches the model in terms of language, imagery, and rhythm.The 'Publishing Branch' award is for a Nabati poetry collection that is characterized by its originality in form and content, and constitutes a significant addition to this field. The 'Translation Branch' award is for works translated into one of the living languages, or works that have made a significant contribution to the translation of Arabic poetry into other languages.The 'Arts Branch' award is for a work that uses visual and technical tools to read, perform, and interpret the poetry of Sheikh Zayed and Nabati poetry, including calligraphy, visual arts, short films, and musical compositions. The 'Creative Personality' award is for a person who has made significant creative contributions to Nabati poetry and its study, as well as fields such as music, singing, and visual arts, and may also be awarded to a corporate personality that has made significant contributions to these fields and has provided services to poetry.Finally, the 'Studies and Research' award is for research studies on Nabati poetry that explores the methods, content, and dictionary of this poetry in a scientific manner.
