Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will participate in the civic-military parade in Moscow, Russia, on Friday (9th), to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. Lula has been in the country since Wednesday (7th), at the invitation of Vladimir Putin, with whom he will hold a bilateral meeting during the day. According to the official schedule released by the Planalto Palace, Lula will start the program at 10:00 am local time (4:00 am in Brasilia) with the main ceremony at Red Square, the center of the Russian capital. He will then participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The agenda continues with a lunch hosted by Putin at the Kremlin Palace, the seat of the Russian government. In the afternoon, Lula and Putin will hold a bilateral meeting, with expected announcements of commercial partnerships and the signing of agreements in the fields of science and technology. Later that day, Lula will also meet with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, and end the day with a dinner hosted by the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow. Lula is accompanied by his wife, Janja da Silva, and a delegation of ministers and authorities from the Republic, including the President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre. From Moscow, Lula and his delegation will depart the following day for Beijing, China, where they will participate in the summit between the Asian giant and the countries of the Latin American and Caribbean Community (CELAC), on May 12th and 13th, and make a state visit, signing at least 16 bilateral agreements.
