Apple's ad closes the loop on their downfall. In the beginning, it was the 1984 ad, depicting them as the alternative to a totalitarianesque monopoly, and a refuge for creativity and originality. Now they gleefully depict themselves as the totalitarians, mechanically destroying the very things they once sought to embody.
